Welcome to my 9 Month Baby & Postpartum Update!
This is way overdue… ok, my updates are always late. I don’t know why I bother even saying it anymore. ANYWAYS… my little David turned 9 months on September 27th! He currently weighs about 18.5 lbs and is 29.5″ long! Yes, he is a tall one! Long and lean is this little bean!
He wears 12- month size clothes mostly, size 4 diapers and has 4 new teeth poking through including his top two front teeth which makes me look forward to his smiles!
He has perfected his army crawl but isn’t full on crawling just yet. However, he has just started to get up on all fours and rock back and forth so crawling may be right around the corner! Just in the last week, after his 9 month birthday, he started to sit up from being in the tummy position. At first he was a little wobbly, but he kept practicing in his crib and he does it so well now! We noticed that David isn’t the best napper. His daytime naps tend to be less than an hour and his final nap in the late afternoon usually will go for an hour or more. Very sensitive to noise and his surroundings, he seems to be a very light sleeper, just like mommy. He still gets up every 3 to 4 hours in the middle of the night to drink milk.
David has been very vocal lately. In addition to his shrieks and squeals, he is also still saying, “Appa” and “Umma” mostly (daddy and mommy, respectively) and he has been increasingly fussy in his carseat because he wants us to take him out so he can explore the world around him! And David is quite the explorer. Instead of staying on his play mat and playing with the myriad of toys surrounding him, he always has to venture out into unchartered territories! He notices a new thing right away and feels compelled to touch it, examine it and put it in his mouth.
David is still going through his social anxiety phase. He will usually cry when someone he doesn’t know very well comes on to him too strong. He is usually ok if a person doesn’t invade his personal space too much, haha.
Perhaps one of the most adorable developmental milestones he’s had is clapping. A few days before turning 9 months, I was feeding him in his high chair as usual and out of nowhere, he started clapping! Ever since then, he claps spontaneously- usually when he is delighted about something.
Super alert, fun and sensitive, we are having the best time watching him grow and develop!
As for me, I’ve been really getting into my fitness this past month. I have been doing HIIT (high intensity interval training) workouts at home at least three times a week and even bought a plant-based protein powder to drink after my workouts! I lost a little weight, feel stronger and more confident in my clothes! I’ve also changed my eating habits and I’ve really been paying closer attention to what I put in my body. I hope to continue my health & fitness journey and hope to make it a lifestyle!
